I don't know if you've felt some dense energy around you lately, but I have.

The truth is, our nervous systems weren’t designed to hold the weight of every crisis streaming across our screens in real time. And with recent events, here we are, all trying to process it.

For me, I started to struggle with my sleep. I was restless, my mind kept replaying images, and I was waking up in the night.

That’s when I decided to just stop taking it in.

I refused to let the outer world dictate my inner state.

Refusal is an elegant gesture. It’s not about denial. It’s about control and groundedness. It’s the moment you decide, “I will not let this pattern run me.”

I knew in this case, I needed to turn to two things:

  1. I added more weight training to my week, three days, even when I don’t feel like it.
  2. I doubled down on meditation.

The gym tires my body in the best way, helping me sleep more deeply. Meditation shifts my nervous system from high alert into coherence. I had to get out of the rut of feeling bad about world events and change my frequency.

Yesterday was a struggle. I argued with myself, put it off, but finally I dragged myself to the gym, and by the time I left, my energy had shifted.

There's magic in expanding your comfort zone.

When you say yes to what initially feels uncomfortable; you step into that space, whether it’s refusing a cookie, pushing through fatigue at the gym, saying something that needs to be said, meditating when your mind is racing, or refusing habits that drain you; you are training your nervous system and energy field to be more flexible, resilient, and contained.

By gently stretching the limits of your comfort zone, you learn that discomfort is temporary, your body and energy can handle more than you thought, and you become stronger, calmer, and freer while the world keeps spinning around you.

For me, I needed to sweat, push some weights, and clear my mind. Not hard to diagnose as weight training builds bone and muscle and helps regulate cortisol; meditation lowers heart rate variability and aligns the body’s electromagnetic field, bringing calm where chaos once was.

Deciding what to do was easy; I just had to pony up and do it.

In what way does your unique comfort zone need to expand a little?

Refusal doesn’t look the same for everyone. Sometimes it might mean saying no to:

  • that late-night bowl of ice cream calling your name
  • the “just one more glass” of wine
  • a friend who calls to gossip, leaving you feeling like you ran a marathon without moving
  • the endless scroll that eats up hours and causes your mind to race
  • getting off the couch to take a walk

Can you identify what it is for you?

So the next time life feels overwhelming, remember: you can release the old pattern. Refuse the pull of panic. Refuse the story that you’re powerless. Choose differently, and watch how your body and energy respond.

If you’re stuck in a pattern from the past, or if you like you're aging too fast, or like you're feeling too much of other people's energy...you don't need to suffer. I can show you how to come into alignment, step by step.
