What To Do When Life Feels Weird

Let me describe what I mean by weird: most often for me it comes from distraction, or too many things going on, too much head noise to resolve. But it could also mean job stress, pain in the body, feeling left out or lonely, when self-esteem has taken a hit...or fill in the blank______

I've been there too. And I’ve learned: if I don’t take action, that "off" feeling can linger or expand.

When things get weird, or when stress feels like too much:

The inner work comes first--that's my energy practice. I adjust the routine according to how I feel and what's going on. THIS is the first step. Once I've done this, here’s exactly what I do next:

  1. Let the Light In
First thing in the morning, I look outside and ground myself, feeling gratitude for home and safety. Then I open all the drapes and let natural light fill the room. Even when my mood is flat, allowing sunlight to connect with the optic nerve and inviting it into my space is a signal of new beginnings.
  2. Stand on the Grass
Shoes off, feet in the grass (if weather permits). Grounding is top of the list. Sometimes I stand quietly. Sometimes I practice a full energy grounding exercise—whatever I feel in the moment.
  3. Trace My Meridians
Connecting to this part of myself is how I relax into feeling well and strong without worry. I give extra attention to the sluggish areas until my energy feels steady and vibrant again.
  4. Clear My Healing Space
My special space; the area where I stretch, meditate, and center myself gets a refresh. Maybe some dusting, straightening, cleansing my favorite crystals, or vacuuming. I will never give up this space or set up a damn sewing machine in the middle of it. It's mine, it's sacrosanct, and non-negotiable. (The sewing machine gets set up elsewhere though).
  5. Declutter My Home
Mental clutter often reflects physical clutter. I do a quick walk-through with a donation bag or trash bin—piles of mail, counters, closets to find what is right in front of me, needing to be tossed.
  6. Play My Sound Bowls
I tune the frequency of my home using sound. If you don't have a sound bowl, you can find recordings of healing sounds online.
  7. Get Strict About Bedtime
When stress spikes, I double down on early, peaceful evenings. Phone off, lights low, calming tea if needed.
  8. Go Off "Cocaine" (that's my nickname for sugar)
Sugar alters mood and penetrates the blood-brain barrier so, if life gets "extra" -- sugar is out!. It makes a huge difference in stabilizing my energy, sleep, and mood.

And of course I stay hydrated but Warrior Goddesses like you already know this.

The Bottom Line:
Getting back to center isn’t about needing massive motivation to do something big—it’s small, steady choices that realign energy and clear the mental fog.

If you’re in that space right now and need help figuring out where to start, I’m here for you.

An Energy Alignment Practice will get rid of the weird and get you back to feeling like the best version of you.
